Google Ads for Window Companies
For most window companies, a lead isn’t the finish line. An appointment is set, a rep drives out, the homeowners are (or aren’t) both home, and a sale does or doesn’t happen. Google Ads that optimize for raw leads tend to fill the calendar with appointments that don’t sit or don’t close. Netembark builds Google Ads campaigns for window companies that bid toward appointments held and windows sold, and keep Microsoft, window-tint, and window-cleaning searches out of your account.
How do window companies get better appointments from Google Ads?
Optimize toward appointments that are held and sold, not form fills, and qualify before the rep drives out.
- Qualify on the form or call: number of windows, own or rent, timeline, and whether all decision-makers can attend.
- Confirm fast: a quick confirmation call or text cuts no-shows. (Follow applicable consent rules for texting; check with counsel.)
- Feed outcomes back: when Google knows which clicks led to held and sold appointments, bidding shifts toward those searches, times, and areas.
- Report the full funnel: cost per lead, per appointment set, per appointment held, and per sale, by campaign.

Which window searches deserve their own campaigns?
Whole-house replacement, specific window types and materials, and repair behave differently. Give each its own campaign or ad group and landing page.
| Theme | Example searches (illustrative, not volume data) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Replacement (core) | “window replacement near me,” “replacement windows near me,” “window installation company” | Highest value; in-home appointment offer |
| Type and material | “vinyl replacement windows,” “bay window replacement,” “double hung windows installed” | Product-led pages; only for products the client sells |
| Brand | Brand name + “replacement windows” | Dealers only, and ad-text use needs authorization (Trademarks) |
| Repair | “foggy window repair,” “broken window glass replacement,” “window seal repair” | Smaller jobs; separate budget, or negative if the client doesn’t do repairs |
| Egress | “egress window installation” | Code-driven; pairs with basement finishing |
| Cost | “cost to replace windows in a house,” “replacement window cost per window” | Planning stage; cost page; asks for window count |

How do you track leads through appointment set, held, and sold?
Create separate conversion actions for each stage and upload them from the CRM with the sale value. Bid on held or sold appointments once there’s enough volume.
- Capture the GCLID on forms and use call conversion tracking for calls from ads and the site.
- In the CRM, mark appointment set, appointment held (demo run), and sold (with contract value).
- Upload those through offline conversion import or enhanced conversions for leads. Google says uploads move to the Data Manager API starting June 15, 2026, so check any custom integration.
- Set conversion windows to cover the sales cycle, up to 90 days.
- Use “appointment held” as the primary bidding conversion if sold volume is too thin, and “sold” with value once it isn’t.
- Netembark imports booked estimates and won jobs into Google Ads as offline conversions (offline conversion imports), so bidding learns from real outcomes, not just leads.

What negative keywords does a window company need?
Window campaigns pick up more off-topic searches than almost any other trade. Block software, cleaning, tint, appliances, and window coverings before launch.
- Software: microsoft, windows 10, windows 11, windows update, laptop, pc, activation, install windows
- Cleaning (separate trade): window cleaning, window washing, window washer
- Auto: window tint, car window, auto glass, windshield, power window repair
- Appliances and coverings: window ac, window air conditioner, window fan, blinds, shades, curtains, window treatments, window film
- DIY and retail: diy, how to, window kit, replacement sash kit, windows for sale, home depot, lowes, lowe’s, menards
- Rental and renters: apartment window, landlord won’t fix window (renters can’t buy replacement windows; use phrase negatives so landlords aren’t blocked)
- Jobs: window installer jobs, hiring, salary
Add plurals and variants yourself (negative keywords), and review the search terms report weekly at first.
Can window companies still advertise the federal tax credit?
Not for new installs. The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (section 25C) doesn’t apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Remove federal tax-credit claims from ads, assets, and landing pages.
The IRS FAQ on Public Law 119-21 lists the 25C termination date. Leftover “qualify for a federal tax credit” sitelinks and callouts can create Misrepresentation problems (policy) and angry customers. Energy-efficiency benefits can still be described accurately using the product’s ratings. State and utility programs may exist.

Can window companies advertise financing on Google?
Yes, if the offer is real and properly disclosed. Financing-heavy ads can be labeled under Google’s consumer-finance rules, which limit targeting, and specific payment terms trigger federal disclosure requirements.
- Targeting: ads promoting credit fall under Consumer finance restrictions in the US and Canada: no targeting by gender, age, parental status, marital status, or ZIP code. Google enforces this by reviewing creative, so a window company running “No payments for 12 months” headlines can be swept in. Use radius or city targeting in those campaigns.
- Disclosures: under Regulation Z §1026.24, terms like a payment amount, number of payments, repayment period, or down payment trigger additional disclosures including the APR. Confirm with the lender and counsel.
- Accuracy: promotions must be available as advertised and end when they say they end (Misrepresentation).
- “Buy one get one” and big-percentage-off offers: make sure the landing page explains the terms the ad implies.

Can window companies use Local Services Ads?
In many US markets, yes. Google’s Window repair services category describes professionals who install and repair windows. Don’t confuse it with Window cleaning, which is a separate category.
Google’s US category list includes Window repair services and Window cleaning services as separate categories. Google’s screening page describes window repair professionals as those who “install and repair windows and may also service skylights, doors, and other types of glass,” with insurance, state licenses where applicable, and business and owner checks for select users. Whether full-replacement job types are available, and how LSA leads fit an in-home sales process, needs checking per market.
Netembark manages Local Services Ads alongside Search: onboarding and screening paperwork, business profile, job types and service areas, budget, reviewing leads and sending lead feedback, review requests, and pausing when the schedule is full. LSA and Search leads are reported side by side, and we check for the same homeowner showing up in both.
How should window companies set radius and seasonality?
Draw the radius around where reps and install crews will go for a whole-house job, target people located there, and plan the season from the client’s own appointment data.
- Use Presence targeting (advanced location options), and bid up the areas where appointments are held and sold most often.
- Window installs can happen year-round in many climates, but lead flow often shifts with the weather. Plan from the client’s history and change budgets for long seasons. Seasonality adjustments are for short events like a 3-day sale.
- Match budget to rep capacity: extra leads in a week with no open appointment slots just go stale.
Should window companies use Performance Max?
Only after appointment-held or sold data is flowing, and with care. Without it, Performance Max tends to optimize toward the cheapest form fills.
Performance Max campaign-level negative keywords apply to Search and Shopping inventory only, so they won’t stop Display or YouTube lead junk. Point the campaign at held or sold conversions, add form validation, and compare its cost per held appointment with Search before giving it more budget.
How Netembark runs window company campaigns
- Funnel tracking: set, held, sold, with value, uploaded from the CRM
- Campaigns by replacement, product type, and repair
- Window-specific negatives (software, cleaning, tint, coverings) at launch
- Tax-credit and financing claims audited across ads, assets, and pages
- Local Services Ads management under Window repair services where eligible
- Bidding on held or sold appointments; Performance Max tested only after that

Frequently asked questions
How do window companies get better appointments from Google Ads?
Separate whole-house replacement, product-type, and repair searches; qualify leads on window count, homeownership, and decision-makers; and import appointment set, appointment held, and sold events from your CRM so Google’s bidding learns which clicks turn into appointments that sit and close.
What negative keywords should a window company use?
Block software terms like Microsoft and Windows 11, window cleaning and washing, auto terms like window tint and windshield, window AC units and fans, blinds and shades, DIY and big-box retail terms, and job-seeker searches. Add plurals and variants yourself and review search terms weekly.
Can window companies advertise the federal energy tax credit?
Not for new installs. The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit under section 25C doesn’t apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Remove federal tax-credit claims from ads, assets, and landing pages, and verify any state or utility incentive before advertising it.
Can window companies advertise financing in Google Ads?
Yes, if the offer is real and disclosed. Ads focused on credit can be labeled under Google’s consumer finance rules, which block targeting by age, gender, parental status, marital status, and ZIP code in the US and Canada. Specific payment terms also trigger federal disclosures such as the APR.
Can window companies use Google Local Services Ads?
In many US markets, yes. Google’s Window repair services category describes professionals who install and repair windows, and it’s separate from the Window cleaning category. Check job types and eligibility for your area in Google’s tool before planning around it. Netembark manages Local Services Ads alongside Search campaigns.
How should a window company measure Google Ads results?
Measure cost per appointment held and cost per sale, not just cost per lead. Upload appointment set, held, and sold stages with sale value from the CRM, and set conversion windows long enough to cover the sales cycle, up to Google’s 90-day limit.
