Google Ads for Door Companies
Door companies sell everything from a same-day garage door spring repair to a custom fiberglass entry system that takes weeks to arrive. On Google, those jobs have different rules, too. Garage door advertisers in the US have to pass Google’s Advanced Verification before their ads run, and lock work can pull a company into the same process. Netembark builds Google Ads campaigns for door companies that plan for verification up front, split urgent repairs from planned replacements, and keep DoorDash and door-hardware shoppers out of your budget.
How do door companies get leads from Google Ads?
Organize campaigns by door type and urgency, send each to a matching page, and count measured estimates and completed installs, not just calls.
| Campaign | Example searches (illustrative, not volume data) | What wins the click |
|---|---|---|
| Entry door replacement | “front door replacement near me,” “fiberglass entry door installed” | Styles and materials, in-home measure, install timeline |
| Patio and sliding doors | “sliding patio door replacement,” “french door installation” | Product types, glass options, photos of installs |
| Storm and screen doors | “storm door installation near me” | Fast scheduling, defined job |
| Interior doors | “interior door replacement,” “prehung door installation” | Multi-door projects; often a minimum job size |
| Garage door repair (urgent) | “garage door won’t close,” “broken garage door spring” | Phone-first, same-day availability, hours |
| Garage door replacement (planned) | “new garage door installation,” “insulated garage door replacement” | Styles, in-home quote, financing (carefully) |
Do garage door companies need Advanced Verification?
Yes. Google requires garage door services advertising in the United States to complete Advanced Verification before their ads can show on related searches. It applies to both Google Ads and Local Services Ads.
Google’s Advanced Verification policies list “Garage door services: United States” under both Google Ads and Local Services. Google’s local services policy says garage door repair ads are restricted and advertisers must apply for advanced verification.
What the process involves
Google says the process combines a review of the Google Ads account, publicly available data such as state registrations and professional licenses, and video interviews. It checks the owner’s license validity where applicable, the business registration, and evidence of unauthorized or misleading practices. Until verification is complete, the business won’t be eligible to appear on searches related to those services.
For Local Services, Google also treats garage door as an urgent category with service professional background checks on top of business and owner checks, and pre-badge ads aren’t available for garage door services.
How to plan a launch around it
- Start verification before you build campaigns, and don’t promise the client a launch date until it’s done.
- Make sure the business name, address, phone, website, and license details match across Google Business Profile, the state registry, and the website.
- If the business already passed Advanced Verification for Google Ads, Google says the status can usually be applied to Local Services under the same business name, website, and address.
- A window-and-door company that adds garage doors later needs to go through verification before garage door ads will serve. Its other door ads aren’t affected, but keep garage door keywords in their own campaign.

Do door companies that install locks need locksmith verification?
If you advertise locksmith services (lockouts, rekeying, lock repair), plan on it. Google requires Advanced Verification for locksmith services in the US and Canada.
Many door installers also fit handle sets, deadbolts, and smart locks as part of a door job. Advertising “new front door with smart lock installed” is a door ad. Advertising “rekey locks near me” or “lockout service” is a locksmith ad, and Google lists locksmith services in the US and Canada under Advanced Verification. If lock work isn’t verified, keep locksmith keywords out of the account and add them as negatives.

How should you split repair and replacement campaigns?
Urgent repairs need phone-first ads, call tracking, and hours-based scheduling. Planned replacements need product-led ads, an in-home measure offer, and longer conversion tracking.
- Repair (mostly garage doors): call assets, location assets, ad schedule limited to hours someone answers, and a tight radius. Measure answered calls over a minimum length with call conversion tracking.
- Replacement: ad groups by door type and material, landing pages with real install photos, a short form (door type, number of doors, timeline, own or rent), and offline import of “measure appointment set” and “installed” with value.
- Don’t let a cheap repair-call cost per lead decide the budget for replacement work. They’re different businesses.
Can door companies still advertise federal tax credits?
Not for new installs. The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (section 25C) doesn’t apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Remove “tax credit” claims from door ads and landing pages unless they’re about a different, verified incentive.
The IRS FAQ on changes under Public Law 119-21 confirms the 25C cutoff. Old ad copy and sitelinks promising a federal credit on exterior doors risk Google’s Misrepresentation policy and customer complaints. State, utility, or local rebates may exist.

What negative keywords do door companies need?
“Door” is a busy word. Block delivery apps, car parts, hardware, DIY, retail, and entertainment searches before launch.
- Other meanings: doordash, door dash, the doors (band), doors tickets, door hanger printing, car door, truck door, refrigerator door, dog door, cabinet door
- Hardware and parts: door knob, door hinge, door handle only, weatherstripping, door sweep, garage door remote, opener remote, replacement spring for sale
- DIY: diy, how to, install yourself, prehung door kit, barn door hardware kit, garage door spring tension how to
- Big-box and retail: home depot, lowes, lowe’s, menards, doors for sale, used doors, door outlet
- Jobs: garage door technician jobs, door installer jobs, hiring, salary
- Locksmith terms (if not verified): locksmith, lockout, rekey, locked out
Garage door brand and opener brand searches can be worth bidding on for authorized dealers. Google doesn’t restrict trademarks as keywords, but ad text use is restricted for competitors (Trademarks policy).

Can door companies use Local Services Ads?
Garage door companies can, after passing Advanced Verification and the other screening steps. For entry and patio doors, Google’s Window repair category description includes doors, but whether door replacement is a selectable job type needs checking.
Google’s US category list includes Garage door services, Window repair services, Handyman, and Locksmiths. Google’s screening page describes window repair professionals as people who “install and repair windows and may also service skylights, doors, and other types of glass.”
Netembark manages Local Services Ads alongside Search: onboarding and screening paperwork, business profile, job types and service areas, budget, reviewing leads and sending lead feedback, review requests, and pausing when the schedule is full. LSA and Search leads are reported side by side, and we check for the same homeowner showing up in both.

How should door companies track calls, estimates, and installs?
Track answered calls and forms as leads, then import measure appointments and installs with value so bidding knows a full entry system from a storm door.
- GCLID capture on forms and call conversion tracking for calls
- Outcomes uploaded through offline conversion import or enhanced conversions for leads
- Netembark imports booked estimates and won jobs into Google Ads as offline conversions (offline conversion imports), so bidding learns from real outcomes, not just leads.
- Separate conversion actions for repair calls and replacement estimates, so one doesn’t distort the other’s bidding
How Netembark runs door company campaigns
- Verification check first: garage door and locksmith Advanced Verification status
- Campaigns split by urgency and door type
- Door-specific negatives, including delivery-app and hardware terms
- Tax-credit and promotion claims audited in ads, assets, and landing pages
- Local Services Ads management: Garage door services after Advanced Verification, Window repair services for other doors where job types allow
- Offline import of measures and installs, then bidding on value

Frequently asked questions
Do garage door companies need Advanced Verification to run Google Ads?
Yes. Google requires garage door services advertising in the United States to complete Advanced Verification before ads can show on related searches. It applies to Google Ads and Local Services Ads, and includes a review of the ads account, public business and license records, and a video interview.
Do door installers need locksmith verification on Google?
Only if they advertise locksmith services such as lockouts, rekeying, or lock repair. Google requires Advanced Verification for locksmith services in the US and Canada. Installing a lockset as part of a door replacement is usually advertised as door work; keep locksmith keywords out until verification is done.
Can door companies advertise the federal energy tax credit?
Not for new installs. The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit under section 25C doesn’t apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Remove federal tax-credit claims from door ads and landing pages, and verify any state or utility incentive before mentioning it.
What negative keywords should a door company use?
Block other meanings of door such as DoorDash, car doors, cabinet doors, and The Doors band; hardware and parts like knobs, hinges, and opener remotes; DIY and prehung kit searches; big-box and used-door retail; job-seeker terms; and locksmith terms if the business isn’t verified for them.
Should garage door repair and replacement be in separate Google Ads campaigns?
Yes. Repair searches are urgent and phone-driven, so they need call assets, tight scheduling, and a small radius. Replacement searches are planned, product-led purchases that need in-home quotes and longer tracking. Mixing them lets cheap repair calls distort budgets and bidding for replacement work.
Can door companies use Google Local Services Ads?
Garage door companies can after passing Advanced Verification and other screening, though pre-badge ads aren’t available for them. For entry and patio doors, Google’s Window repair category description includes doors, but check job types and eligibility for your market in Google’s tool. Netembark manages Local Services Ads alongside Search campaigns.
